Alaskan Husky
The Alaskan Husky is not recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale, but it is a fairly ancient breed whose history is inextricably linked to the settlement of Alaska. The first dogs arrived in the North alongside Eskimo tribes approximately four and a half thousand years ago.
Genetic analysis has shown that the Alaskan Husky is the closest relative of the Alaskan Malamute and the Siberian Husky. However, unlike its relatives, it developed haphazardly, mostly in villages and small towns.
Today, enthusiasts of the breed are not only fighting for its recognition but are also working to maintain the dogs’ working abilities. They are being crossed with pointers, sheepdogs, and even Salukis.
The breeders’ efforts have not been in vain. The Alaskan Husky is a true working dog that still competes in winter sports and makes an excellent companion for active people.
Like the Siberian Husky, the Alaskan Husky is incredibly energetic and active. It can’t sit still. And the owner must be prepared for this: the dog will demand 100% of your attention and plenty of free time. Otherwise, its temperament will deteriorate, and as a result, the pet may become unmanageable. This will manifest itself in damaged furniture, clothing, and shoes.
